You will love 'Gankutsuou'. :) I don't know how familiar you are with the old book, but this series has a lot of changes in the story that I think are actually for the better. It's also one of the most visually ravishing things I've ever seen. It's a very adult story, which is probably why it hasn't been all the rage. Most anime fans, bless 'em, never psychologically matured further than age 12. XD
